What is MCP server development?

An MCP server (Model Context Protocol server) is a small program that exposes tools and data to an LLM in a standardised way. Claude Desktop, Cursor, and every mainstream 2026 AI agent speak MCP. Empyreal Infotech builds custom MCP servers that wire your internal systems (databases, ticketing, CRM, custom APIs) to the LLM your team actually uses. Every server ships with type-safe tool contracts, per-tenant secret isolation, structured logging on every call, and a deployment path (Docker, AWS Lambda, or your VPC) that matches your security posture.

What you get, every engagement.

01

Custom MCP servers

One per internal system: DB, CRM, ticketing, custom API. Written in TypeScript or Python. Contracts documented in Zod or Pydantic so the LLM never gets a surprise payload.

02

Multi-tenant secret isolation

Per-caller credentials, per-workspace scoping. A demo tenant can't read production data. Every call carries an audit trail.

03

Observability from day one

Structured logs on every tool call, distributed trace ID, latency + cost per call. Sentry catches failures with the calling agent + tool + tenant context.

04

Deploy to where you already are

Docker for local dev, AWS Lambda for serverless, or your own VPC for regulated data. We don't force a hosting choice on you.

Common questions

Questions we get about MCP server development, with real answers.

An MCP server exposes tools + data to an LLM in a standardised way. Common uses: giving Claude Desktop safe read/write access to your CRM, letting Cursor query your production database in a scoped way, wiring an internal AI agent to your ticketing system without hard-coding integrations. Every mainstream 2026 agent (Claude, Cursor, VS Code) speaks MCP.

Yes — every server we ship targets the current Anthropic MCP spec and passes the reference conformance tests. We've also shipped servers for Cursor, VS Code, and two enterprise agent platforms that adopted MCP in 2026.

Yes. Standard deploy targets are Docker (local dev), AWS Lambda (serverless prod), or your own Kubernetes / EC2 / VPC. For regulated data we default to VPC + private networking with no egress to Anthropic. Client credentials never leave your infra.

Every tool call carries a caller identity. Secrets are fetched from AWS Secrets Manager (or your vault) at request-time, scoped to the caller's tenant, and never persist in the server's memory across calls. A demo tenant physically cannot fetch production keys.

The £8K audit week + fixed build quote. Reference MCP servers we've shipped in 2026 land between £20K and £65K depending on the surface (5 tools vs 40 tools) and the deployment target (single-tenant Lambda vs multi-region VPC). Retainer for spec-drift + PR review is £5K/month, cancellable with 30 days' notice.

Anthropic has bumped the MCP spec twice in 2026. Both times the reference servers we'd shipped needed 2-4 hours to update — contract tests caught the drift, we bumped the SDK, re-ran the conformance suite, and shipped. If you're on the retainer we do this for you. If not, we send a 1-page migration note.
